  3. The literal transalation in spanish be like:
    Pawn – Pawn
    Knight – Horse
    Rook – Tower
    Bishop – Elephant (from abaric)
    King – King
    Queen – Lady (Dama) or Queen (Reina)

  4. In turkish = pawn, horse (knight), castle (rook), elephant (bishop), shah (king) which means king in persian and vizier(queen)

    Knight is horse and bishop is elephant.

    Other pieces have similar origin and meaning as far as I know.
